Proper Wedding Etiquette for a Great Ceremony

For a wonderful wedding day to commence for a couple there has to be some organization and precision to the events leading up to and during the ceremony. This includes knowing what the proper wedding etiquette for certain aspects of the big day should be not only for the bride and groom, but also the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and the guests. Failure to follow good etiquette may not necessarily ruin a ceremony, but can certainly hurt feelings and possibly the tradition that was the main goal of decorum for the ceremony.

The groomsmen and bridesmaid are a large part of the celebration, but they are also supposed to give the bride and groom support when needed. Bridesmaids who try to make themselves the center of attention are certainly displaying poor behavior. Remember, this day should only be focused on the couple and their union in love, so the general focus should definitely be on them. Trying to pull the attention away from the bride and groom happens far too often and should certainly not be attempted by members of the bridal party.

During the ceremony, the guests must be aware of their actions and behavior. Certain things like getting up to use the restroom, whispering, or falling asleep can be a distraction for everyone around you. There is nothing worse than being distracted by a guest insisting on making everyone in their row move so they can get up and use the restroom. Cell phones should be turned off as well, to prevent any unexpected interruptions. This is all a matter of common courtesy. ?

It is quite important for the bride and groom's parents to follow these basic rules because they are more likely to have attention focused on them as well. If a parent is crying out in happiness during the wedding, this will most certainly cause a distraction that can interrupt the vows and ultimately create a terrible spectacle.

For the bride and groom, there are also points of etiquette that should be heeded on the day of marriage. For one, keeping certain traditions should be attempted for the sake of keeping things organized as well as keeping tradition. Additionally, the bride and groom should take care to ensure that the guests feel comfortable at the reception and the ceremony. The reception is akin to having a dinner party with innumerable guests, so there should be some attempt to make sure guests feel comfortable.

Many people need help when it comes to the etiquette of wedding gifts. It is nice when guests actually use the couple's registry or gift idea list in the selection of wedding gifts. If you prefer to not give an actual physical gift, then money is an acceptable gift option. Just make sure the amount you give is not too exorbitant.
