If you have ever gotten a painful bee sting in the summer, your dog probably has too and it hurts just as much for him as it does for you! Here are some things you can do to alleviate the pain of dog bee stings.

When sitting outside during "bug season" you will always see your pet "playing" with bugs by snapping at them. They may be trying to play with their prey before they kill it or just trying to get the bug away from them. We really have no way of knowing, but what we do know is that this way of playing can lead to stings in our pets' mouths, which can be very painful.

If your dog gets stung, you'll probably realize it right away. He'll be whining and pawing at his mouth. He may even starting salivating a lot more than usual, which can be upsetting as it tends to froth and foam.

If your dog gets bit, here are some steps you can take to relieve them from the pain of dog bee stings:

One way to alleviate the pain of a sting is to make a solution of 2 pints warm (check it on yourself to ensure it is not too hot) water and 1 tablespoon bicarbonate of soda. When this solution is complete use it to bathe the area of the sting. This should be done every ten minutes until your pet seems more comfortable.

Ammoniated quinine can be put directly on the area.

Bee stings generally don't upset any dog too much, but if your dog is seriously panicked or bothered you can give him a little potassium bromide to make him more tranquil.

See if you can locate the stinger, and if you can you might try to take it out with tweezers - that is, if your dog will sit still for that.

If your dog has been stung and is reacting irregularly, always consult a vet. The vet can administer a drug to stop itching, swelling, and other reactions.

Summer is a time for insects and dog bee stings can easily happen. Many dogs will continuously snap at insects, but will never be stung. Just in case of a bee sting, it is to your benefit to know how to help get rid of any pain your dog is experiencing.
