So if you know somebody who is into this hobby, you could get a gift for their birthday which would be useful to them. To interpret what kinda gifts would be useful to a bird watching enthusiast, you'll need to see what gear they use.

Believably a hat is one of the easiest and least expensive items to buy. This could be a good idea as it should improve their vision and act as a sun blocker too.

Another idea could be to find a pair of 'combat' pants which has a lot of pockets as they can accommodate many items conveniently.

A bird watching vest is another cool item to get because it has more pockets than the cargo pants. Backpacks can be very cumbersome when you're bird spotting so these vests can be very useful and more importantly, convenient.

If you know their back pack is already worn out, perhaps you get can them a new one. Though backpacks are available in various sizes you would only need a small day sack since these people need to travel light.

The most costly gift idea for a bird enthusiast is a pair of binoculars. Quality binoculars are costly because of the optics involved which allow the bird watcher to see the birds from a distance with great clarity. You can get plenty of features in binoculars; expensive versions allow lenses to be interchanged and some can be used to take pictures and videos even.

Bird watching journals are used by most enthusiasts, after all how else would they keep account of what birds they've seen and where; this could be a great gift.

A subscription to a bird watching periodical might also be welcomed. Most are published each monthly, and these magazines carry pictures of birds found in remote places from the Antarctic to the Amazon.

How about making a collection and buying a bird watching holiday for your friend to send them someplace they have not been like South America or Canada for instance; providing you've that kinda money! It is important to remember that there are thousands of species of birds in this world; several do not find the climate of US a suitable.

What does the person need and which places have they not visited are the questions that need answering before you can decide on a gift. A chat can reveal a great deal and you would get plenty of ideas; you can then choose a gift which is within your budget yet would make the person happy.

After the time spent finding the right gift, it may light a desire in you to start bird watching in the future. Rather than just supporting that person, you could soon join them on excursions!
