Airline Safety And Equipment: Why Quality Matters

Fear of airplanes and flight is quite common. But what many don't know is that airplane travel is often safer than traveling in a car, from what statistics show. Regardless of the statistics, bad equipment will mean certain failure-in which case pilots should educate themselves on proper airplane equipment and where they buy it.

Safety And The FFA (Federal Aviation Administration)

The Federal Aviation Administration is a US department that helps keep the aviation industry safe for everyone. They have recently been called out on their lack of quality control for airliners who import their airplane parts from foreign sources.

But using foreign parts for airline planes is not a bad decision in most cases. It often saves airliners much money, which in turn benefits consumers who pay less airfare as a result. Therefore, airliners are doing a service to consumers by bargain hunting for the best rates.

The cheap parts act won't get airliners far if the quality isn't up to par. The FAA has reported that several recent failures were a direct result of substandard airplane parts. This has sent a shockwave through the department, who is now hoping to find a solution that benefits both consumers and airliners.

The FAA seeks to find a way to keep airline parts low, while also increasing the quality of the said parts so consumers can have their cake and eat it too. The solution has thus far been to increase inspections at the manufacturer and import levels. The FAA hopes that with increased inspections, accidents as a result of substandard parts will not exist.

Airplane Safety for Consumers

If you're a consumer, you have little choice in finding an airline that has the best quality of service. Many of the top airlines practice the bargain hunting technique as described previously. There are too many circumstances and variables to find the best airline in regards to safety- but there are tips for consumers to stay safe on an airplane in the event of equipment failure.

There are several tips that can help improve the safety of a consumer when airplane equipment fails. Although there is the myth that one spot on a plane is safer than another, this is usually false. There are too many variables and scenarios that are present to decide what the best spot on an airplane is in regards to survival.

To help their chances of survival, citizens should follow the directions and regulations provided to them. Different procedures are apparent on different types of planes. A large class plane, for instance, will have different procedures than a hobbyist plane may.

Interesting enough, airplanes have a plethora of devices to help keep its residents safe. A floating device can be used, for instance, if the airplane fails over a large body of water. Other types of safety device such as oxygen masks ensure that one does not lose consciousness while under stressful situations.

To wrap it all up, keep in mind that quality does and can save lives. In that case, striving to find the best quality airplane parts should be a priority for pilots and mechanics. That way, the best possible scenario can be played out even in the even of catastrophic events.
