Many women around the world have had to deal with pain and discomfort of a yeast infection. Yet, many women have no idea what has caused this pain, itchiness, and discomfort. This means that these women can only hope they don’t get another yeast infection. By not knowing the causes of this you may not be able to avoid the pain, so here are some known causes.

Candida is a fungus that is naturally present in the human body. Given the right circumstances this fungus will grow rapidly. This overgrowth will put the body out of balance and cause symptoms of a yeast infection. For yeast to grow it needs to have warmth, darkness, and moisture.

Wearing clothing that is too tight will help in the growth of this fungus. Many women overlook tight clothing as a cause of yeast infections. This is a leading cause of yeast infections.

Other causes may include high blood sugar levels in the body. This is because yeast feeds on sugar, meaning when the blood sugar levels are too high the fungus is given the perfect opportunity to grow. Your mouth is at risk of contracting thrush, another type of yeast infection, if you are a diabetic.

Also, if you like to go to the beach and you don’t put on dry clothing when you leave you are putting yourself at risk of a yeast infection. Remember that moisture is one of three things Candida needs to grow. The same thing goes for sweaty gym clothes. I know that it may be embarrassing for some people to shower in front of others, but that is something you will have to learn to deal with if you want to avoid a yeast infection.

Another cause of yeast infections is the use of antibiotics. Antibiotics kill the bacteria in the body which may cause an overgrowth of Candida. If you are prone to yeast infections your doctor can prescribe an oral antibiotic or anti-fungal that will help prevent any imbalance that may cause yeast infections.

Lastly, washing too much can cause yeast infections. This happens when too much of the needed bacteria is killed causing the overgrowth of Candida. To avoid yeast infections when bathing you should not take bubble baths unless you wash thoroughly in the shower afterwards. Also, avoid using scented soaps this will also help in the reduction of yeast infections.
