If you have high blood pressure then you should maintain a log of your blood pressure. A log will help you determine which foods and events help you keep your blood pressure down and which things cause your blood pressure to elevate.

Because we're all different and don't have the same physiologies, there are things that may make your blood pressure go up, while someone else's will maintain just fine. The opposite is also true. For example, you might be able to eat certain foods that other people can't, and they may be able to eat foods that you can't. You need to know what these are and what activities help keep your blood pressure at its optimal level.

When you maintain a blood pressure log you should write down your daily activities. If you have an active lifestyle then it may be easy to forget to write in the log. You cannot forget. You should take your log with you everywhere you go and write down everything you do. These things include exercise, every food you eat and everything else. You will need to take your blood pressure throughout the day and write it down in your log.

After a few days of this, you should be able to look at your log and see trends in your blood pressure levels. For example, perhaps your blood pressure is low just upon rising, particularly elevated after a high salt meal or snack, at a good, low level when taken after an appropriate rest after you've done your 30 minutes of exercise, and so on. For example, perhaps drinking a lot of coffee elevates your blood pressure to unhealthy levels. This can tell you that you should cut back. Similarly, the above example shows that exercise helps keep your blood pressure at a good low level, so this is something you should continue.

You need to be proactive to maintain a healthy blood pressure. When you keep a log of your blood pressure levels, you'll find out which foods and activities can help you stay healthy. Of course, your doctor, too, can help you establish a proper diet and lifestyle.

When you keep a log, you'll have a visual record of what things in your life are harmful and cause your blood pressure to rise, and which are beneficial and cause it to fall. You can then take steps to eliminate the harmful things from your life.

With a log, your blood levels can be easy to maintain at a healthy level as long as you do the right things. If you are eating a particularly unhealthy diet, such as one that is high in salt or fat, or if you have things happening in your life that are causing your blood pressure to go up, these are things that will need to be changed.

A personal blood pressure log can be very important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure level. By keeping a log, you can find out what things you do that cause your blood pressure to go up or down. This can help you change your lifestyle so that you can either reduce or eliminate blood pressure medications altogether over time, should you need to be taking them now. Being committed to keeping a blood pressure log is important as one way to keep track of your blood pressure and keep it at a healthy level, for a healthy life.
