Many women have questions about diet and exercise. Expectant mothers have more questions than a woman who is not expecting. This is because pregnant women want to be sure they are getting the right nutrients for her and the new baby.

• Expectant mothers should start a diet with lots of unrefined carbohydrates, due to the high amounts of vitamin B and fiber.

• Dairy is also very important. Milk and other dairy products will help with the growth of strong bones, and healthy teeth, for both mom and baby.

• Mothers should also stay away from fatty foods. The more fatty foods you eat, the more pounds you gain, which become harder to lose after the new bundle of joy arrives.

Many mothers-to-be wonder if exercise is good during their pregnancy. The answer to that question is, yes. Yes, exercise is good for any woman, expecting or not. Exercise helps with muscle tone and endurance in everyone. Exercise will help you through your pregnancy tremendously.

• Exercise will also help with the reduction of swelling in the ankles, feet, legs, and hands.

• Avoid over exerting yourself. Over exertion makes the risk of hurting yourself and the baby higher than normal.

• Drink lots of water to stay hydrated

As with any diet and exercise routine you are at risk of being hurt. Before starting a new routine talk to your doctor about potential risks for you and the baby. Be sure you and your doctor are on the same page about your exercise routine. If your doctor recommends you not do a certain exercise, listen to him, he knows what will be best for you and baby.
