Do you have dark or puffy circles under your eyes? The truth is that more women than men have dark circles under their eyes, but just because women are more prone to having them doesn’t mean that men won’t have them. Men may begin to see circles under their eyes for the same reasons women do. What are those reasons? Let’s explore the possibilities.

More often than not these dark, puffy circles are due to lack of sleep. The less sleep you get at night the worse the circles may be. Sleep deprivation can lead to anemia which in turn will lead to dark circles. Your body repairs your skin during sleep, deep sleep. When your body begins to repair your skin, blood rushes to your face to give a boost to your facial skin. This may be why we refer to it as beauty sleep.

Dark circles also show sings of dehydration, or lack of water. The recommended water intake is eight, eight ounce glasses per day, drink only have of this recommendation may cause dehydration which will lead to dark circles. This could also mean that you have poor kidney health or unhealthy amounts of sugars in your body.

As we all know a healthy diet is always a good idea. In this case if you lack certain minerals you may begin to see the dark circles under your eyes. This is also known as iron deficiency which is a form of anemia. These circles may be more noticeable during menstruation cycles and pregnancy.

Many medications can cause these unsightly circles under your eyes; this is not just any type of medication but one that causes your blood vessels to expand. This is due to the increased blood flow in the body which will more noticeable on the face and around the eyes.

This can also be passed genetically; it may not be something that becomes more noticeable as you age. If you are one that has had this passed on to you from your mother or father, the only thing you can do strengthen the skin under eyes and hope for the best. Unfortunately if this passed genetically this is the only thing you can do because there is no way to avoid it.

Knowing what causes these dark circles under eyes will be more use to you than you know right now. There are cosmetics designed specifically for under eye circles, and you should not be ashamed to purchase them. These cosmetics will help cover and blend so the circles will be less noticeable than before.
