Many people use their computer for more than just work, many play games, download music, movies, etc. Knowing what you will be primarily using your computer for when you purchase it, will be helpful when trying to protect from viruses.

If you are using your computer for work, yet you will still be using your e-mail account frequently, you will need an anti virus software to protect your computer from being infected. Also, gaming, or any kind of downloading, also carries a risk of being infected with a horrible computer virus, so be sure to protect computer.

Any time you open an e-mail from an unfamiliar address, you are taking a big risk which could be hazardous to your computer. To avoid this add everyone you wish to receive e-mails from into your contacts, if you don’t know who it is, you shouldn’t open it. Many e-mails coming from people you don’t know may contain a virus of some sort. If you open the e-mail, be sure to read everything in full, even if you have to read it two or three times read it. Don’t open an attachment from someone you don’t know, this could be a deadly computer virus.

To completely avoid all of this use an anti-virus program that safeguards your computer from PC viruses, even when you do open a destructive attachment accidentally. These threats are real, but very preventable if you follow email attachment safety.

Finally, when you send an email yourself, you should follow the same guidelines and never send an attachment to someone who is not expecting it, so be sure to let the person you are e-mailing the attachment to know what you are sending. Otherwise your email may simply be discarded on the receiving end.
